The company is involved in the gathering, processing, and transportation of natural gas; gathering, transportation, fractionation, storage, and marketing of natural gas liquids; gathering, storage, transportation, and distribution of crude oil and refined products, as well as other hydrocarbon-based products and renewables; and sale of residue gas and condensate.
It also engages in inland marine businesses, comprising fleet of boats and barges transport light products, heavy oils, crude oil, renewable fuels, chemicals, and feedstocks in the Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast regions, as well as a marine repair facility located on the Ohio River; and distribution of fuel, as well as operates refining logistics, terminals, rail facilities, and storage caverns.
In addition, it operates terminal facilities for the receipt, storage, blending, additization, handling, and redelivery of refined petroleum products through the pipeline, rail, marine, and truck transportation. MPLX GP LLC acts as the general partner of MPLX LP. The company was incorporated in 2012 and is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio. MPLX LP operates as a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation.

또한 inland marine 사업을 통해 보트와 바지선 선단으로 Mid-Continent 및 Gulf Coast 지역에서 light products, heavy oils, crude oil, renewable fuels, chemicals 및 feedstocks를 수송하고, 오하이오 강에 위치한 해양 수리 시설을 운영합니다. 연료 유통과 refining logistics, 터미널·rail 시설·storage caverns 운영을 포함해 파이프라인, 철도, 해상, 트럭을 통한 정유제품의 수취·저장·블렌딩·첨가제 처리·취급·재배송을 위한 terminal facilities도 운영합니다.
